Meter Technician
I. OBJECTIVES
A. Efficiently installs, reads, maintains, and troubleshoots single and three-phase metering equipment and substations.
B. Operates Geographic Information Systems (GIS) of electrical system, as well as Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) system
and Meter Data Management (MDM), keeping all databases and mapping maintained.
C. Provides both internal and external quality support.
II. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
A. Reports to: General Manager
B. Supervises: None
III. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties listed below are essential functions of the above-referenced position, AND are NOT limited to the following:
A. Efficiently installs, inspects, reads, and maintains single and three-phase metering equipment.
B. Maintains substation equipment, investigates, and troubleshoots all issues, including but not limited to: control
equipment, breakers, capacity banks, and transformers.
C. Monitors meter and substation data by use of appropriate software.
D. Ensures that all metering and substation maintenance, records, or related activities are accurately completed and
maintained per EPB, local, state, and federal guidelines/regulations.
E. Operates Geographic Information Systems (GIS) of EPB electric system, keeping software and mapping up-to-date with
accurate infrastructure data.
F. Utilizes mapping software to analyze data and generate maps and reports necessary for planning and management
G. Collaborates with other departments providing support for field operations as necessary.
H. Timely performs after-hours support and other job duties or assistance as needed.
I. Attends all safety related activities and implements those practices into daily work routine.
J. Holds and maintains a valid Kentucky Drivers’ License and complies with laws, regulations, and safety practices while
operating a company vehicle.

B. Strong skills in repair, maintenance, troubleshooting, and resolution.
C. Ability to work independently and multitask.
D. Skilled in adapting, learning, and navigating work related software and devices.
E. Excellent communication skills.
F. Physical ability to lift, carry, and/or move heavy equipment as required.
G. Ability and willingness to work in adverse weather conditions for extended periods of time.

VII. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
A. Required: High school graduate or equivalent.
B. Preferred: Technical or two-year college graduate (training focused in electricity) OR two years of combined education,
experience, or training in electrical field such as utility or industrial electricity.
VIII. SALARY RANGE
Hourly based on education and experience.
