We do not debate the merits of an open internet. We support enforceable open internet principles of transparency, no blocking, no censorship and no discriminatory throttling.
To stay as transparent as possible we publicly disclose our network management practices, performance, and commercial terms for your benefit.
We have never practiced any network management that blocks or otherwise prevents end user access to lawful content, service, or non-harmful devices.
We have never practiced any network management that degrades or impairs access to lawful Internet traffic on the basis of content, application, service, user, or use of a non-harmful device.
Affiliated or Paid Prioritization:
We have never practiced favoring traffic over other traffic in exchange for consideration, monetary or otherwise.
The EPB has several network management practices in place to ensure that no customers are ever without the bandwidth or service they rely on day-to-day. This includes multiple back-up links and fail-safes to protect your right to service.
Application Specific Behavior:
As an ISP we have never practiced blocking, rate-controlling specific IP protocols, ports, or modifying protocol in any way to prohibit or favor certain applications or classes of applications.
Device Attachment Rules:
We have never placed any restrictions of any types of devices that can be used to connect to the internet.
EPBSmartnet does implement a single rule towards end-user security. During the event of a DDOS attack on a specific customer's service and/or equipment we will temporarily disable service for 5 minutes. This is to protect your equipment, your service, and your personal information.
EPBSmartnet's services to the home is completely fiber based, we use the latest technology available to us as a business to offer you the speeds offered within our service packages. Our network consistently provides latency at or below 1ms to our local speed test server and is suitable for any real-time application.
